After some delays, the popular mid-size 2021 Chevrolet Colorado and 2021 GMC Canyon trucks are once again available for order. These are the first diesel-powered versions of the Colorado and Canyon.

New Diesel Option

The new 2021 Colorado and Canyon are being offered with a 2.8-liter inline four-cylinder turbo-diesel engine. This is a very popular engine worldwide. The pickups also feature non-diesel options including the naturally aspirated 3.6-liter V6 LGZ and the 2.5-liter inline four-cylinder LCV. Production was halted in the spring by the COVID-19 pandemic, but everything is now back on schedule for the fall.

Taking Orders for US-Built Trucks

Despite pandemic-related production delays, customers are now able to order a diesel-powered 2021 Colorado and Canyon. Orders for customers opened on July 15 and production began in late June 26 at GM’s Wentzville plant in Missouri. These diesel pickups will be the first U.S.-built GM vehicles made for the 2021 model year.

Next Generation

Changes are planned for both the Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon in future generations. A third generation of the trucks is planned to be available for the 2023 model year.

The 2021 GMC Canyon: A New Standard, plus the Adventurous AT4’s Debut

2021 GMC Canyon | Fuller Chevrolet GMC Blog | Rockland, ME

GMC’s 2021 Canyon models are a fresh, bold take on the Canyon truck, with an all-new trim level sure to please off-road enthusiasts.

Forward focus

For the 2021 Canyon update, GMC narrowed its trim levels to four. Don’t worry, drivers: you can still choose from 14 different combinations of cab size, trim and bed lengths.

The Canyon’s new base level is the Elevation Standard, while the Elevation trim replaces the 2020 SLE and SLT models. The new AT4 trim provides an off-road focus, while the Denali remains the highest Canyon trim level.

2021 GMC Canyon AT4 — off-road in style

The 2021 Canyon marks the debut of the AT4 trim, specifically engineered for your off-roading adventures. Its standard V6 engine gives you 308 horsepower, while an available 2.8-liter Duramax Turbo-Diesel engine provides 369 lb-ft of torque.

31-inch Goodyear Wrangler DuraTrac® tires let you maneuver past any obstacles in the road, especially when paired with the AT4’s off-road suspension, standard four-wheel-drive and rear automatic locking differential. An Advanced Hill Descent Control system helps you manage tricky grades without pumping the brakes.

The AT4 has an interior to match its capable specs, starting with heated front seats and an available heated steering wheel. Available leather seats include Kalahari stitching, and the GMC Infotainment System-powered 8-inch touch screen will handle your navigation and entertainment needs.
