U.S. News Names the Chevy Silverado 1500 and Colorado Among the Best Trucks for Towing

Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and Colorado Among Best Trucks for Towing | Fuller Chevrolet GMC | Rockland, ME

Both the Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and the Chevrolet Colorado were recently named to the list of the 13 Best Trucks for Towing. Compiled every year by U.S. News and World Report, this list considers the towing capability of every truck on the market, calculating which is best for those who demand top-tier performance when towing and hauling. Given their legacy of quality, it’s no surprise the 2020 Silverado and Colorado each earned a spot on the list.

The 2020 Colorado will tow up to 7,700 pounds when equipped with an impressive 2.8-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine. This is mated to a six-speed automatic transmission, offering the best towing capacity among any midsize truck on the market. Plus, it’s remarkably efficient, which saves you money at the pump.

The Silverado has an impressive 13,400-pound towing capacity, which is also best in its class for light-duty full-size trucks – including the Ford F-150 and Ram 1500. The Silverado 1500 has an optional 6.2-liter V8 engine that generates a whopping 420 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque. This is paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission, while features such as four-wheel drive, a Max Trailering Package, and twenty-inch wheels also improve performance.

Chevrolet also offers several trailering safety systems on newer model years. The Technology Package comes with up to 15 camera views to make it easier to hitch a trailer and to see around your vehicle as you reverse. There’s also Trailer Sway Control, Hill Start Assist, and Auto Grade braking, and even an available app to make trailering easier.
