Aside from getting a new set of wheels, there are some ways to save gas this summer by driving more effectively. Fuel costs have consistently risen over the years, which means you shouldn’t be surprised to see prices exceeding $4 per gallon in the near future. With that in mind, try out some of these efficient driving tactics to help you lower your expenses and save money.
According to Popular Mechanics, one of the best things you can do is coast to a stop. Basically, pretend you’re riding a bike—try to anticipate when traffic lights will change so you can coast to a stop and reduce fuel consumption. Hard braking is inherently less efficient than slowly coming to a halt, so give coasting a try next time you’re commuting.
Don’t start slowly. This might sound like it goes against conventional wisdom, but your car will get lower fuel economy in low gears. This is especially true if you’re eventually going to reach highway speeds, because your car will reach its top, fuel-saving gear sooner if you don’t crawl to reach higher speeds.
Use the air conditioner at high speeds. Again, you may have heard that the A/C is terrible on fuel economy, but having the windows down at highway speeds is actually worse. That’s because having the windows down creates drag, lowering fuel economy by quite a bit. If you’re going less than 55 mph, then have the windows down. Otherwise, use the air conditioner.
If you want a fuel-efficient truck for your daily drive, you’ll find one at Fuller Chevrolet GMC Truck.
Many truck owners buy a truck so they can explore the great outdoors. For the next-generation 2019 lineup of Sierra trucks, GMC is releasing a GMC Sierra Elevation special edition model that is geared up and ready to take on your next adventure.
The Elevation model will feature bold styling that includes chiseled fenders, a bold grille design, monochromatic door handles and bumpers, black exterior accents, and 20-inch aluminum wheels. The sharp C-shaped “light blade” signature lighting up front finishes off the look with an intense stare.
“The 2019 Sierra Elevation conveys a youthful, athletic presence that demonstrates GMC’s tailored approach,” said Rich Latek, GMC marketing director. “With inherent truck capabilities and functionality, Elevation is able to take you off the beaten path along with your gear while standing out from the pack.”
To help you tackle rough terrain, it will come standard with a Traction Select System. By turning the dial to the appropriate mode, the Sierra Elevation will adjust its transmission, throttle, shift points, and other systems to maximize its performance.
For an even better off-road performance, there is an available X31 Off Road package you can add to get Hill Descent Control, a locking rear differential, Rancho shocks, underbody skidplates, a dual exhaust system, and a two-speed transfer case.
The 2019 GMC Sierra and all its editions will be available this year at Fuller Chevrolet GMC Truck. Contact us for more information.
For the 2019 model year, the Chevrolet Silverado 1500 is getting completely redesigned. This will include new styling, new technology, and new powertrain combinations. In fact, there will be six engine options on the 2019 Silverado.
The most popular choices will undoubtedly be the V8s. Both the 5.3-liter and 6.2-liter version have been updated and will include Dynamic Fuel Management technology with 17 modes of cylinder deactivation. This will increase performance and efficiency.
The Silverado will offer an all-new 2.7-liter turbocharged engine as standard on the LT and RST models. This engine is expected to deliver a stronger power-to-weight ratio and improved efficiency over the previous standard engine.
Buyers will still be able to opt for the proven reliability and performance of the 4.3-liter V6. In addition, there will be an all-new Duramax 3.0-liter turbo diesel engine available in early 2019.
“A major focus of the next-generation Silverado is expanding the range of choices,” said Tim Asoklis, chief engineer of the new Silverado 1500. “With all-new engines and a broader model range, there’s a Silverado for everyone, whether you’re buying your first pickup or your tenth.”
With so many engine options to choose from, it is clear the all-new Silverado is designed to suit a variety of needs. Get your 2019 Silverado at Fuller Chevrolet GMC Truck.
If you love driving a full-size SUV but wish it came with more power, your wish has come true in the form of the new Suburban RST Performance Package. This power-filled package adds a 420-horsepower 6.2-liter V8 engine with Magnetic Ride Control and a new Hydra-Matic 10-speed automatic transmission.
“The RST Performance Package made its debut on the Tahoe RST last spring, and the response from our customers was overwhelmingly positive,” said Sandor Piszar, director of Chevy Trucks Marketing and Advertising. “In fact, Tahoe RST with the Performance Package is the fastest-turning Tahoe model, and we’ve received customer requests to offer the same performance and power to Suburban RST.”
With this package, it will be the first time the 6.2-liter V8 has been offered on the Suburban. This engine uses a variety of systems to make it fast, sophisticated, and efficient. These features include Active Fuel Management, continuously variable valve timing, and direct fuel injection.
In addition, the Magnetic Ride Control feature promises to deliver a smooth ride. Its active suspension technology continually “reads” the road to improve body motion and on-road performance.
This high-performance package will be available on the 2019 Chevrolet Suburban, which will come out later this summer, though if you can’t wait, the 2018 Suburban is available now at Fuller Chevrolet GMC Truck.
If there’s one car that drivers can expect more from each and every year, it’s the Chevrolet Cruze. Following in the tracks of its predecessors, the 2019 Chevrolet Cruze comes stocked with a ton of features and better trims that make it a must-have car for drivers of all ages.
The 2019 Chevrolet Cruze hatchback is now available in a base LS model. The LT and Premier trims are still available as well. The Cruze hatchback amounted to 20% of all Chevrolet Cruze sales in 2017.
Upscale styling remains the norm in the upcoming Cruze. Redesigned headlamps and taillamps offer a new gaze, a larger grille features sport-inspired curves, and new wheel designs offer a more unique look in the compact car segment. The RS package includes black window surrounds, badging, and alloy wheels.
As for performance, the 2019 Cruze will continue to feature a 1.4-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine, with a 1.6-liter turbo-diesel four-cylinder engine available in both sedan and hatchback models. Unfortunately, the 2019 model will not be available with a six-speed manual transmission.
Inside, Chevrolet Cruze drivers will enjoy a new standard 7-inch touchscreen display complete with the automaker’s infotainment system. Higher trims feature standard navigation, and the range-topping Premier trim comes with standard automatic climate control and Automated Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Detection.
Here at Fuller Chevrolet GMC Truck, we are looking forward to seeing the 2019 Chevrolet Cruze in person, though you can come see the current, stylish 2018 Cruze already on our lot today.
Chevrolet is no stranger to top awards, and the honor of receiving one now extends to the Chevrolet Colorado ZR2. Last month, the experts at Cars.com named the Colorado ZR2 the Best Pickup Truck of 2018. Citing its remarkable combination of off-road capabilities and creative design, the Colorado ZR2 proved unbeatable and led the Cars.com editors to remark that the truck is “not just an interesting example of a new pickup truck, but quite possibly the most distinctive vehicle that’s come along in years.” The off-road capabilities on this vehicle are virtually unparalleled, providing exceptional performance in all road situations.
If you are an off-road enthusiast, you’d be hard-pressed to find a vehicle more suited to your wants and needs. The Colorado ZR2 offers an increased suspension lift, as well as wider tracks for optimal stability on tough terrain. It also comes equipped with front and rear bumpers designed for high clearance alongside additional rocker protection. For the first time ever, Chevrolet has applied Multimatic Dynamic Suspensions Spool Valve (DSSV™) damper technology to off-roading functionality. The ZR2 seamlessly manages these advanced off-road capabilities alongside great general maneuverability, which is a balance that many drivers will value.
Having been able to take a close look at the Chevy Colorado ZR2 ourselves at Fuller Chevrolet GMC Truck, we can attest to the incredible capability and distinctiveness that had Cars.com so awed. We hope you’ll swing by to take a look of your own!

What is the one thing you use nearly every day that isn’t your smartphone? It’s your car, of course. This year, you should set some New Year’s resolutions for your vehicle to take better care of your beloved vehicle.
- Read your owner’s manual. Every new car comes with a manual, which most of us have never read. Take an hour to go through yours and you might learn a thing or two about your car.
- Replace your windshield wipers. When was the last time you got new wiper blades? If you can’t remember, that means it is time for some new ones. Experts recommend replacing them every six to 12 months.
- Catch up on maintenance. Your owner’s manual should include a recommended maintenance schedule with items like oil changes, brakes checks, etc. If you have fallen behind schedule, get caught up to make sure everything is working properly.
- Clean your car. Winter snow, ice, and salt, can leave you with a grimy exterior. Clean off all that gunk as often as you can. And, give you interior a thorough cleaning as well.
If you want to take care of your car this year, schedule a service appointment here at Full Chevrolet GMC Truck. We will make sure your car, truck, or SUV is ready for the year ahead.
If you happen to be in the Camden, Maine, area this holiday season, come to the Christmas By the Sea holiday festival. This unique tradition combines classic holiday events with a local seaside twist. Great for people of all ages, the festival has been around for more than 20 years. We at Fuller Chevrolet GMC Truck can’t wait for the festivities.
According to Rockland and Maine, the festival will begin with a Christmas Parade that extends from downtown Camden all the way to Harbor Park. The final destination of the route is the Community Tree for the lighting ceremony. What makes this celebration unique is that Santa and his helper arrive on a lobster boat, not a sleigh, a Maine twist to more traditional celebrations.
“Most people would agree that Christmas is one of the best times of year,” reads the Rockland and Maine Vacation website. “For Rockland locals and tourists alike, this is even more accurate. Just a short distance away, Camden, Maine is known for its “Christmas by the Sea” festival that is a loved event by people of all ages.”
Local stores have holiday crafts and annual sales, while a number of restaurants are also offering special dishes in celebration of the Christmas By the Sea event. This is one festival you won’t want to miss.
Cold weather is setting in, and you know what that means: winter. The chilly season in Maine can be especially tough on your car, so here are some winter car maintenance tips to help your car get ready for those frigid temps.
Replace Windshield Wipers
In order to clear that falling snow (and you know there’ll be plenty), you’ll need capable wipers. Be sure to replace your wipers if they haven’t been replaced in the past six months.
Get an Oil Change
Even if it’s a little early for your oil change, it’s better to be safe than sorry. With cold temperatures, oil thickens. The thicker the oil is, the harder it is for it to properly lubricate the engine. Ask our service department what oil is best for the winter season.
Test Your Battery
In order to start your car in the winter, you’ll need a sturdy battery. Before the cold weather comes, be sure to check your battery’s charge and make sure it’s strong. If it comes back with a weak charge, you might want to replace it.
Consider Snow Tires
Snow is prevalent in Maine, so you should consider getting snow-ready tires. Swapping out tires (even if they’re all-season) is a smart idea to ensure you’ll get more traction on the road.
